Party politics. It divides us. Politicians take advantage of those divisions to pit us against each other in order to further their careers. They use division as a distraction.
People enjoy competition. We embrace it in business and sports, and we love such rivalries because they drive us to achieve higher goals and make ourselves better. But when it comes to running our nation we should set such rivalry aside and focus on the founding principles of our nation and hold fast to them.
Our first president saw the dangers of party politics and warned about it in his farewell address to the nation.
